i have no ideaThat was from an email I wrote to Zach. To be fair, the new Pearl Jam is somewhat listenable. "World Wide Suicide" is pretty good, as is "Unemployable". When listening to this CD though, it is really easy to imagine a bunch of 40-year-olds being like "Man, Vs. was badass. Let's make another Vs."
why the fuck i look forward
to bands like rhcp
or tool
or pj
they had their moment of innovation
then everyone copied them
and they could either go crazy and hope it worked
or just do the same shit
or mellow out and suck
i'm hoping for a green day like revival
but really
what band other than green day has ever had one of those
I also think Eddie Vedder is less coherent, but not in a Kurt Cobain kind of way. More in a "I am turning into David Crosby" kind of way.
Bottom line, the CD bored me (other than the two aforementioned songs), but if you are for some insane reason really in love with Pearl Jam, maybe you'll like it. But you should throw away the flannel and stop living in 1995.
